april 30, 2006 - 10:58 p.m. If anybody reading this came to Beautiful Noise last night, 1) thanks for coming! and 2) you know why I'm so tired today. For B.N. I set up a situation where Aaron Jentzen and I could do our best. It was a system of correlations (things happening at the same time in the same room) and it played out just right, to me. I even asked the BrilloBox sound man to slip in some reverb on my mic where he felt it fit, and he added just the right touches. Backing up a little - Beautiful Noise is a series of collaboration performances between musicians and poets. Organized by Sarah Claire, its a tremendous expression of creative energy. I performed with Aaron Jentzen playing guitar, but I brought a secret weapon - a backing film I made just for the show. AJ and I couldn't rehearse together; instead, I made the film and arranged a set of poems to the film, while AJ practiced his sound with the film. We ran through once the night before and there you have it. The film played, Aaron played a gritty atmosphere that fit so well with the words - I knew it would - and the audience was tuned in. WYEP will be broadcasting the show next Friday night, starting at midnight. Then of course, I'll be re-editing the film with the performance audio. It was a fantastic night that I'm very happy with... ...Here's a little snippet of video from the show. I call her Lady Lipstick
